An Update on the FFI (Fee for Intervention)

The HSE has issued invoices for a total of £2.6 million under its fee for intervention (FFI) scheme in the first 6 months of operation. See blog 16th April “HSE denies FFI money spinning” . It would appear that my cynical view has been proven to be accurate.

Reports suggest that this figure is disappointing (sic) and must be treated with caution since fees linked to longer investigations will not appear in this early data and will also be for much larger amounts.

Apparently there have been 5 reported cases of violence and aggression attributable to FFI against the inspectors levying the charges. I trust the HSE has a “suitable and sufficient” risk assessment completed.
