Course Structure: This training is run as a series of six fortnightly half day lecture/workshops facilitated by your expert trainer. Prior to the training, you will be asked to consider your company needs, your current health and safety arrangements and your level of health and safety understanding. This will enable the trainer to help you to meet your needs in the most cost effective manner. The workshops will enable you to produce a bespoke Health and Safety Management System in accordance with your company specific requirements.

Course Content:

Day 1

·      Course introduction

·       Introduction to Health and Safety - Why Health & Safety is needed

·       Health & Safety Law and Practice - Legal Obligations

·       Duties of employers

·       Duties of employees

·      HSE/Local Environmental Health Officer Role

Issue: Policy statement, H&S Committee chart, Duties and Responsibilities (including Directors), HSE Guidance documents.

Day 2

·      Emergency Procedures / Fire Safety

·   General H&S training including: Management of H&S at Work Regs., Workplace Regs., Provision and Use of Work Equipment, Working at Height, Personal Protective Equipment

Issue: Emergency Procedures, General H&S Procedures, PPE Issue/Training form, HSE Guidance documents.

Day 3

·      Specific H&S Procedures

·      CoSHH

·      Accident investigation and reporting / RIDDOR

·      Manual Handling

·      Induction Training

Issue: Specific sample H&S Procedures, CoSHH Register, Accident Procedures and Investigation forms, Manual Handling Assessment form, PPE Issue/Training form, Employee Checklist, HSE Guidance documents.

Day 4

·      Risk Assessment

·      Competency

Issue: Sample risk assessment forms, HSE Guidance documents

Day 5

·      H&S Audits

·      Fire Risk Assessments

·      Monitoring/auditing

·      Maintenance of Equipment

Issue: Annual H&S Audit forms, Fire Safety Inspection forms, H&S Review Log, Maintenance recording forms, HSE Guidance documents

Day 6

·      Display Screen Assessments

·      Trainee Specific subjects

·      Building H&S Library
